Introduction
Opened in 1889 by the
Kaspar Manz family, the St. Gotthard's combination of elegant tradition
and central location ensure its position as one of our favourite Zurich
hotels.
Location
Well situated right on
the famous Bahnhofstrasse (a pedestrian zone) in the heart of the banking
and shopping area of Zurich. The St. Gotthard is just 2 minutes walk to
the main station. Zurich International airport is 10km (6.5 miles) away
and can be reached via the regular shuttle-bus service. Parking is available
nearby.
Bedrooms
The hundred and fifty
bedrooms in the St. Gotthard have been well maintained and refurbished
throughout the hotel's long history. Today rooms combine elegant, traditional
furnishings with excellent modern facilities. All rooms are en-suite (with
bath or shower), have multi-channel TV, a safe, a mini-bar and direct
dial telephones (plus PC/Modem connections). 'Business' rooms also have
Jacuzzis and a fax machine.
Restaurants
There is a choice of
four restaurants serving up fine food with a selection of local and French
wines. The speciality in La Bouillabaisse, Hummer and Austernbar restaurants
is shellfish, with lobster and oysters the top draw. For something more
meaty, head for the US beef in the Prime Grill restaurant. No visit to
Zurich would be complete without a dip into the city's cafe society. A
good place to begin your induction into the refined circles of cake, caffeine
and chat is the hotel's Café St. Gotthard - a traditionally styled Viennese
coffee-house.
Business Facilities
For business guests there
are three conference rooms (from 8 to 50 persons) and a business centre
with translation and secretarial services.
