Introduction
A hotel with an intriguing history, a great location and, in part thanks to a recent renovation, high levels of comfort and service, the Westminster enjoys a big reputation even in a city so redolent of classy hotels as Paris.

The Westminster's stunning baroque facade and marble and crystal bedecked interior belie its origins. Before re-inventing itself in the 19th century as a coaching inn (where the eponymous Duke stayed regularly), the site on which the Westminster now stands was a convent. The remains of its last Mother Superior still lie in the hotel's basement. She won't be going anywhere, but visitors to the Westminster will, as the hotel is in a prime city centre location.

Location
It would be difficult to think of a better Right Bank location than that enjoyed by the Westminster. In the middle of an imaginary triangle closely cornered by the Opera Garnier, the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, it's also within easy walking distance of a welter of other major sights including the Palais Royal, Notre Dame and Musee d'Orsay.

Important shopping areas such as the Rue du Faubourg St Honore and the Galeries Lafayette are also close by. Even nearer is Place Vendome, a byword for up-market shopping, not least for its jewellery stores. There's a Metro station a couple of minutes walk away for access to other parts of Paris.

Bedrooms
Individually designed rooms come in a range of colours and finishes, though all share sumptuous decoration and plentiful antiques. All also come with the kinds of modern facilities you'd expect of a top-class hotel, including cable TV (37 channels), mini-bar, safe, high speed internet connection and lavishly appointed bathrooms featuring earth-toned marble. Five meeting rooms with a capacity of up to 100 people form the centrepiece of the hotel's business service. Equipment such as OHP, copier and slide projector is available by arrangement and translation services, hostesses and admin. Assistants can also be brought in when needed.
