Introduction
Recently renovated, the
Krone is a gem of a hotel; stylishly decorated, well equipped and friendly.
It's also right on the centrally located Weinmarkt, probably Lucerne's
prettiest square, an early 15th century space that's finished off with
a lovely fountain.
Location
With the Weinmarkt at
its doorstep, the Krone could hardly represent a better launching point
for exploring Lucerne. Within 100 metres is the Picasso Museum, within
300 the Historical Museum as well as Lucerne's beautiful bridges and most
of the rest of the city sights.
Bedrooms
Lots of the hotel's rooms
overlook the picturesque Weinmarkt. Rooms at the back aren't so visually
stimulating but there is a bonus; they're bigger. There's choice, too,
in terms of single rooms, doubles and even four-bedders. All have en-suite
bathrooms, TV and radios.
Restaurants
An arched ceiling looms
overhead at the Krone's easy-going restaurant where both traditional Swiss
and international food is served. In the summer, diners can eat on the
hotel's terrace. For lighter snacks, there's a newly opened sandwich bar.
