Introduction
With some of the best
views in the world at its doorstep and some of the best cuisine and levels
of service within its elegant, Belle Epoque walls, the Hotel Beau-Rivage
Palace deserves its place in the pantheon of great hotels. In June 2000
a 60 million dollar renovation program had been completed. First opened
in 1861, the hotel has catered for Europe's titled, rich and famous ever
since. For the third consecutive year in 2002, the
Beau-Rivage Palace has been awarded Best Hotel in Switzerland, by the
Swiss
economic magazine Bilanz.
Location
The hotel is set in 10
acres of parkland on the shores of Lake Geneva, right next to Lausanne's
pretty little harbour. A five minute walk gets you to the Olympic Museum
and the railway station, a ten minute one to the centre of town. Lausanne
is just over half an hour from Geneva Airport by car or train, and three
hours from Milan and three and a half hours from Paris by high-speed train.
Bedrooms
High-ceilinged, spacious
rooms dressed in elegant furnishings are the hall-mark of accommodation
at the Beau-Rivage Palace. A wide range of amenities and services are
on tap such as mini-bar, air-con, satellite TV, ISDN internet and fax.
For those hankering after even more luxury, there are suites and junior
suites available. Many of the rooms have superb views over Lake Geneva
and the Alpine peaks beyond. All suites and a lot of the rooms have Jacuzzi
baths.
Restaurants
La Rotonde is the gourmet
restaurant, a superb circular (as the name suggests) venue that mutates
into a terrace with panoramic views in the summer, while excellent brasserie
style cooking is served in Le Cafe Beau-Rivage. Light meals and snacks
are on offer at both the poolside Le Grill Piscine and the leather clad
English Bar. There is also a bright and relaxed bar, the place to see
and be seen in Lausanne.
Business Facilities
For the international
business travellers, a new business corner is at their disposal. Meeting
facilities have been given a massive facelift over the past two years
to leave the Beau-Rivage Palace with a range of ten superbly appointed
rooms featuring bang up to date equipment.
