Introduction
One of Europe's oldest
(it dates back to 1701) hotel's, the Grandhotel Pupp is one of the Czech
Republic's most beautiful. Completely refurbished in the mid-1990s, the
Pupp offers superb 18th and 19th century architecture, high levels of
service and a whole bunch of facilities including golf course, fitness
centre and spa treatment centre.
While heads of state,
ambassadors and religious leaders used the Pupp in previous eras, recently
the hotel has hosted showbiz stars such as Michael Douglas, Gregory Peck
and Julia Ormond.
Location
Karlovy Vary, one of
Europe's leading spa towns for three centuries, is about two hours by
car from Prague. The Grandhotel Pupp enjoys a superb location in its own
magnificent grounds, nestled in the valley of the Tepla river.
Bedrooms
It would be hard to think
of what else they could have put in the rooms to make them more comfortably
luxurious. Each is decorated in tastefully understated fashion and features
air-con, marble bathrooms, at least two telephone lines, fax, mini-bar
with an excellent bonus of free soft drinks, as well as satellite TV,
VCR and PC port.
Restaurants
Top class restaurants specialising in Czech and international cuisine,
a beautiful cafe plus several bars cater for the various demands of the
hotel's well-heeled guests.
Business Facilities
The star feature here
is the neo-baroque Slavnostni Sal, an extraordinary hall that can host
functions of up to 700 people and which is used for events ranging from
concerts by the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra to the Miss Czech Republic
beauty pageant. Nine further meeting halls, seminar rooms and lounges
of various sizes and atmospheres, all with a dedicated back-up service,
help give the Pupp one of the most comprehensive business facility lists
we have come across.
