1. Palais Des Nations - Residence of the European headquarters of the UN. Many world leaders have met in this architecturally impressive building.
2. Pont Du Mont-Blanc - Stand in the centre of this bridge and gaze in awe at the snowy summit of Mont Blanc, with the added bonus in the summer months of admiring Europe's tallest fountain, Jet d'Eau.
3. Musee Rath - Archaeology and contemporary art exhibitions feature in Swiitzerland's first fine art museum built in the early nineteenth century.
4. Monument De La Reformation - Huge granite statues pay homage to protestant figures such as Calvin and Knox while there are also memorials to Zwingli and Martin Luther.
5. Hotel De Ville - Inside the town hall is the Alabama Hall where, in 1864, countries signed the Geneva convention, paving the way for the International Red Cross.
6. Cathedrale St Pierre - Climb the north tower of this incongruously-shaped church for a panoramic view of the city. Fascinating archaeological excavations lie underneath the Cathedral.
7. Place Neuve - Geneva's central square, home to the Musee Rath and the Grand Theatre (opera house).
8. Musee d'Art et d'Histoire - Here lies the largest collection of Egyptian art in Switzerland, 17th century weapons and a room of alpine landscapes in the mother of all culture museums.
