Introduction
Founded in 1834, the
Hotel des Bergues was the first hotel in Geneva. Ever since, world statesman,
princes and kings have found this five star hotel a home from home. Housed
in a magnificent neo-classical building, it aims to raise hospitality
to an art form, combining modern efficiency and traditional service. The
concierge, a Clefs d'Or, can organise anything from an interpreter to
a European tour.
Location
Overlooking Lake Geneva,
guests can contemplate the power and beauty of the Jet d'Eau, from March
to October Europe's tallest fountain. Or gaze into the distance at the
magnificence of the continent's highest peak, Mont Blanc. All this while
remaining in the heart of a great city. The hotel is close to the financial
and fashion districts, the railway and airport. Across the river Rhone
via the Ile Rousseau, the old town is a short walk away.
Bedrooms
In this magnificent
neo-classical building, all bedrooms and suites are newly renovated. Hospitality
combines tradition, modern efficiency and personalised care to please
discerning guests. Directoire and Louis Philippe furniture is complimented
by direct dial phones, internet facilities, satellite TV, air conditioning,
24 hour room service and overnight dry cleaning. Many rooms have views
of Lake Geneva and the River Rhone.
Restaurants
Fine food has a long
tradition at the Hotel des Bergues. The present Chef, David Felisaz, follows
a prestigious line that began with the world-renowned Henri Germanier
back in the 1830s. Choose from the splendour of the Amphitryon Restaurant
where refined gastronomy is served with an exceptional touch of creativity,
or from Le Pavillon that offers you a great selection of Swiss and French
specialties in a casual atmosphere with a stunning view of the Lake and
all day service, or the Bar des Bergues. All three are popular with the
city's most discriminating palettes as well as the most well-healed of
guests.
Business Facilities
The Bel Etage, located
on the mezzanine floor of the hotel, is renowned as offering the most
charming conferences and private banqueting facilities. It is now a fully
refurbished executive floor featuring 6 salons from 10 to 500 attendees.
