Wasserturm means watertower
and that, yes honestly, is what you get with this hotel, its stunning
interior carved out of Europe's biggest such hoarder of H2O. Unique architecture
apart, the Wasserturm also benefits from modern interior design (positively
no chintz here) and a location in Cologne's centre which can be viewed
- Cathedral included - from the hotel's roof top.
Location
Just (about ten minutes
by foot) to the south of Cologne city centre, the Dom and the old town
district.
Bedrooms
Leading French interior
designer Andree Putman has taken for her inspiration the shape of the
tower (circular) and its material of construction (brick). Furniture is
often round, while dark hardwoods reflect the earthiness of the brickwork.
As well as these eye-feasts, rooms come fully equipped with facilities
including fax, TV, private safe and work desk.
Restaurants
A glazed roof 11th floor restaurant provides diners with great views over
Cologne as they tuck in to an alternating menu of top-rated gourmet cuisine.
The hotel's stylish minimalist garden bar serves light meals and snacks.
Business Facilities
Four meeting areas -the
hotel calls them salons - offer a variety of conference, seminar and banqueting
options. One of the salons features views over Cologne. 10 new function
rooms, set in the parkland next to the Wasserturm, are due to open in
Autumn 2002. Other business facilities include a multi-lingual secretarial
service.
