1. Kiralyi Palota - Rebuilt after Nazi decimation, the Royal Palace
now houses two fine art mueums and the Budpest History Museum which traces
the city's history using various media including photos and videos, through
to the 1970s.
2. Magyar Allami Operahaz - Richly adorned opera house dating from
the 19th century neo-rennaisance period.
3. Matyas Templom - Gothic spires and a diamond-patterned tiled
roof mark this church as distinctive. It was here that the Hapsburg Emperors
were crowned King of Hungary until the last one, Charles IV in 1916.
4. Neprajzi Muzeum - Authentic elegant folk costumes and traditions
lace this Museum of Ethnography, and you won't find any of them in tourist
shops.
5. Szepmuveszeti Muzeum - A fine arts museum of which an entire
section is devoted to rare Egyptian, Greek and Roman objects.
6. Mucsarnok - Built in 1895, the Palace of Exhibitions lives up
to its English translation, housing contemporary exhibits of Hungarian
and International Art as well as a diverse plays, films and concerts.
7. Szobor Park - Nicknamed 'Tons Of Socialism', this is an open
air exhibit consisting of forty-two communist statues and memorials exiled
here since the 1989 revolution.
8. Hadtorteneti Muzeum - Military uniforms and regalia are on show
at this museum that traces the military history of Hungary from the 9th
to the mid 20th century.

1. Vaci Utca - This pedestrian only district caters mainly for
expensive tastes although you will find souvenir shops residing alongside
classical record outlets.
2. Kiskorut - Cheaper, more interesting buys are to be found in
the less touristy Hungarian shops.
3. Falk Miksa Utca - Antique hunters paradise. Handmade embroidered
goods are sold on the street.

Weather
- Temperatures reach their hottest in July and August at 28C so it's best
to visit in May or September when the climate is much more suited to sightseeing.
Airports
- Ferihegy Airport (14 miles SE of the city) Minibuses leave every 30
minutes and take 30-40 minutes. The airport shuttle will take you to any
destination in the city door to door for less than the cheapest taxi.
