3. Arriaga Theatre - Home to many of Bilbao's important cultural
activities, this horse-shoe shaped 19th century building is a good example
of the popular neo-baroque style.
4. Butrn Castle - Situated in Gatika (18km from Bilbao), this medieval
fortress is steeped in Basque history.
5. La Catedral De Santiago - Outstanding example of gothic architecture
dating back to the 14th century.
6. Palacio De La Diputation - Palace of the regional government.
7. Museum Of Fine Arts - A vast array of, mostly Basque, artistic
styles from 12th century to the present.
Shopping Selection
1. Las Siete Calles - Modern shops lie juxtaposed with traditional
ones in the winding streets of the old town and at reasonable prices,
too.
2. El Ensanche - Department stores flourish here as do fashion
boutiques. Goods tend to be a little pricey but the enticing window displays
may lead to some serious self-indulgement.
