Introduction
This centrally located
and elegant five star hotel has been in the Gauer family for generations.
A sense of history pervades the Schweizerhof as much as it does the city
on its doorstep. The rooms, suites and corridors feature original pictures,
furniture and vases to bolster the generally genteel atmosphere.
Location
The Schweizerhof is located
in the heart of the business, banking and shopping district. From the
hotel, it's easy to take a stroll down the medieval arcades and past the
city fountains that, together with its strong artistic tradition, help
make Bern a World Cultural Heritage site. The airport is fifteen minutes
away by shuttle bus while the station is almost opposite the hotel, with
fast connections to Paris via the TGV.
Bedrooms
Room sizes are bigger
than usual, with double rooms often the size of junior suites; most were
completely renovated in 1997 with Italian designers going all out for
style. Rooms are equipped to the kind of luxury levels you'd expect from
a top class hotel.
Restaurants
In the traditionally
furnished Schultheissenstube the emphasis is on innovative dishes, while
Jack's Brassiere offers delicious French cuisine. The Arcady Bar serves
up light snacks and cocktails, accompanied from 5pm by live piano music.
