Introduction
A stunningly attractive
hotel, where design takes centre stage, the Hotel Brandenburger Hof is
well positioned in the centre of the city. Built within the imposing walls
of a turn of the 19th/20th century mansion, the hotel's interior has been
heavily influenced by the Bauhaus school. Such is the standard of design
here that much of the furniture has previously been exhibited in museums,
including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. All that plus gourmet
food and a health and beauty salon offering massage, steam-bath and solarium
make the Brandenburger Hof, in our view, one of Berlin's finest.
Location
A five-minute stroll
from both the Kurfurstendamm and the Tiergarten, the Brandenburger Hof
is in the heart of modern Berlin, close to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtniskirche
(Memorial Church) and the bustling europa Centre. The more picturesque
delights of the old town in the east lie only about two miles (3 km) away,
within easy reach by the city's U-Bahn or by taxi.
Bedrooms
Bauhaus design is the
common thread to all the hotel's luxurious rooms which have been finished
in oak and feature single-colour carpets and white walls adorned with
originals by artists such as Ernst Fuchs, Bruno Bruni and Claude Gaveau.
Bathrooms are furnished in granite, chrome and light terracotta tiles.
Voice mail, pay TV, radios, hair dryers and mini-bars are all standard,
while each room also has connections for fax and computers.
Restaurants
One of only eight master head-chefs in Berlin, Wolfgang Nagler told us
he likes to involve nature in his stunning creations for the Michelin
starred restaurant Die Quadriga, and rarely has there been a more natural
chef. Nagler's recipes are complemented by the restrained, Bauhaus influenced,
architecture and the piano music that wafts from the bar/restaurant, Der
Wintergarten, nearby. Der Wintergarten is a sweeping conservatory, part
Italian monastery; part Japanese garden, where lighter meals and drinks
from the bar are served.
Business Facilities
Three salons, with a
capacity of up to 40 people, form the core of the hotel's meeting facilities.
All feature a view over the Wintergarten and all are equipped with computer
and fax connections and PA. OHPs and copiers are available by arrangement.
Meetings, if they are small, can also be held in the Library or, for bigger
events, the Wintergarten itself can be hired.
